Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 20, 2026
This policy explains how CartPool LLC ("CartPool," "we," or "us") handles information through cartpool.net, the CartPool browser extension, and related CartPool services.
Information we handle
- Account and profile information: username, name, email address, phone number, account preferences, and shipping or billing information you provide.
- Authentication information: your password is transmitted over HTTPS for sign-in and is not stored by the browser extension. The extension stores a short-lived access token in browser-session memory and a refresh token locally on your device so you can remain signed in. Authentication tokens are not stored in Chrome Sync.
- Shopping information: products, retailer URLs, prices, images, selected options, cart and wishlist activity, orders, returns, and refund status.
- Technical information: IP address, browser and device details, security events, and standard server logs. The website and extension use cookies or browser storage where needed for authentication, preferences, and service operation.
- Communications: information you include when contacting support or otherwise communicating with CartPool.
Browser extension
The extension's single purpose is to let you save products from public HTTPS retailer pages to your CartPool account. A small on-device detector checks whether a page appears to be a product page so it can display the CartPool action button. That local check does not send page content to CartPool.
When you affirmatively choose to add a product, the extension sends product-focused information to CartPool: the product URL, title, price, currency, image URLs, description, selected size or color, product structured data and metadata, and limited text or sanitized HTML from the product area. The extension excludes full-document HTML, forms, form values, scripts, navigation, account, checkout, and payment elements, and removes common tracking or authentication parameters from URLs before transmission.
CartPool uses this information only to identify the product and add it to the feature you requested. Product-focused page context may be sent to an AI processing provider, including OpenAI, to extract structured product details. The raw page context is processed for that request and is not saved as part of your cart; the resulting product record remains in your CartPool account until you remove it or delete your account.
If price alerts are enabled, the extension periodically retrieves the public retailer URLs already saved in your CartPool cart, compares the displayed price on your device, and can show a browser notification. It also retrieves CartPool account, cart, and refund-notification data needed to display extension features.
How we use information
We use information to authenticate users; provide carts, wishlists, product capture, orders, returns, support, and notifications; maintain security; diagnose errors; improve user-facing CartPool features; comply with law; and enforce our terms. We do not sell extension user data or use it for personalized advertising, creditworthiness, or lending.
Service providers and disclosures
We disclose information only as necessary to operate CartPool, such as to hosting, security, payment, communications, and AI-processing providers; when you direct us to; to protect users or the service; or when required by law. Payment-card details are handled by payment providers such as Stripe; CartPool may receive transaction identifiers and payment status rather than full card details.
Chrome Web Store Limited Use
CartPool's use and transfer of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. We use that information only to provide or improve the extension's disclosed product-saving features, and we do not allow humans to read it except with your specific consent, for security or legal reasons, or after aggregation and anonymization for internal operations.
Retention and your choices
We retain account and shopping records while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to provide the service, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, and enforce agreements. You can delete saved products in CartPool, sign out of the extension to remove its local session, or uninstall the extension to remove its extension storage. To request access, correction, or deletion of account information, contact us at the address below.
Security and international processing
CartPool uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. Data may be processed in the United States or other locations where CartPool and its providers operate. No transmission or storage system is completely secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as CartPool changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when required, including a prominent extension disclosure if extension data practices materially change.
